Handmade Christmas Presents From Kids

Easiest DIY# 1 Sewing Up and Down

Christmas Tree Felt Ornament

This DIY is for ages approximately 5-8.

Cut out the paper, pin it to the felt. Cut out two pieces for all the felt ornaments except the sweater, this just needs one. For more details on how to sew the sweater click here.

Up and Down Hand Sewing Method

Step 1

With a pencil, draw an outline around the Christmas tree ornament.

Thread and knot your needle.

Step 2

Poke the needle in between the two pieces of felt. Now go down close to where you came up. Come back up to the front again and to the left. Then go back down. Up and down, up and down, following the line as best as your children can. It will look a bit topsy turvy but that is normal. They will be very happy with their work!

It’s a lot of fun to watch their confidence grow as they sew!

Step 3

Stuff with felt or whatever you chose to stuff with as you go. You may need to re thread and knot a couple of times. Be sure to finish the stuffing before you sew up the end!

Step 4

Glue on whatever extra things you want. Use my photos for inspiration or to copy. Then glue on the loop.

How cute was it to watch your child hand the Christmas stocking THEY made up on your tree or wrapped up to give to grandparents?

Congratulations!

You planned time for your kid(s) to craft their handmade Christmas gifts, you had an easy shopping trip, and you followed an easy DIY Felt Christmas tree ornament for your kids. Now what?
